Style meets waves on Cunard’s New York Fashion Week cruise in September
Fashionistas will get a chance to check out a cutting-edge collection in September aboard the Queen Mary 2. The ship sets sail from Southampton, England, on its third annual Transatlantic Fashion Week crossing, a seven-night sailing that arrives in New York City in time for New York Fashion Week.
The special sailing is one of several theme voyages planned this year, including cruises that focus on wines, genealogy, photography and cartooning.
The New York Fashion Week cruise will sail Sept. 2-9 and will feature a collection of designs first seen at London Fashion Week in February.
Experts aboard will include fashion historian Virginia Bates, who will present a vintage collection. Others are celebrity photographer Richard Young, fashion historian Colin McDowell, InStyle Magazine founding editor Hal Rubenstein and fashion consultant Gail Sackloff.
Cruise prices start at $1,149 per person, double occupancy, for an inside room.

Voyage du Vin (June 1-8): Queen Victoria’s first wine voyage will introduce guests to some of Europe’s finest wines. Port destinations include Lisbon, Portugal, and Vigo, Spain.
This voyage includes tastings from Cunard’s wine list, which features more than 400 wines from 23 countries and will include a series of dinners, tastings and master classes. Rates for an inside cabin start at $2,699 per person, double occupancy.
Photographic Journey to the Land of the Midnight Sun (July 1-13): Passengers on Queen Elizabeth’s Norwegian voyage will get tips from experts such as Ross Hoddinott, one of England’s leading wildlife and landscape photographers, and take a trip to the Arctic Circle. Prices for an inside cabin start at $2,699 per person, double occupancy.
Journey of Genealogy (Nov. 4-11): In collaboration with Ancestry.com, Cunard will offer passengers the opportunity to trace their family trees on a Queen Mary 2 transatlantic crossing.
Ancestry experts will be on board to help passengers follow their family’s journeys, learn about family history, sift through records and discover their ethnic origins with AncestryDNA.
One in five immigrants came to the U.S. on a Cunard liner, so this collaboration is a perfect fit for passengers who want to trace the steps of their ancestors. Prices for an inside cabin start at $999 per person, double occupancy.
Cartoonists at Sea: (June-November) This cruise, presented in collaboration with the New Yorker magazine, offers an opportunity to join cartoonists as they host lectures and workshops aboard five eastbound transatlantic crossings.
