Maybe Appier Should Be Pitching for Tracy?
It seems former Angel pitcher Kevin Appier and current Dodger Manager Jim Tracy are drinking from the same poisoned well. Appier is upset with Angel Manager Mike Scioscia’s handling of him last year. An earned-run average just below 6 and an inability to pitch past the first three innings should be justification enough for Appier’s handling. Once again, we see an overpaid, over-hyped and spoiled athlete with blinders on, blaming anyone else but himself for his struggles.
Tracy’s rose-colored blinders are an insult to Dodger fans and just as self-deceiving as Appier’s, if even he truly believes what he says. Spring training is not necessarily a harbinger of what is to come but it sure seems that way in Dodgertown. Four projected starters have ERAs of 8 or higher and the only holdover pitching well, Odalis Perez, is the subject of daily trade talks. Add this to the anemic offensive attack the Dodgers possess and you have a recipe for disaster for the coming season.
