Jessica Simpson has Tom Sawyer-themed shower for baby boy

Jessica Simpson toasted to her unborn son at a Tom Sawyer-themed baby shower over the weekend.

“I’m so excited to have a son,” the singer turned fashion designer told People, which obtained exclusive access to the event. “He got all these cute vintage cars and I got a lot of little leather jackets I can’t wait to try out!”

And that’s fitting for mommy, who wore a curve-hugging bright blue dress and happens to be a “Fashion Star” mentor.

The garden fete took place Sunday and was hosted by Simpson’s sister Ashlee and mom Tina. The shower featured a Tom Sawyer theme for her expected little boy with fiance Eric Johnson, whom she’s been engaged to since November 2010.

She outed that she was having a baby boy on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last month and mentioned that they were thinking of naming the little guy Ace.

“I didn’t grow up with a brother, and I think the unknown is really exciting,” Simpson said of her daughter’s upcoming “big sister” status. “I can’t wait to have that connection with our little man.”

Simpson and celeb event planner Mindy Weiss took the mag through a virtual tour of her baby shower, which took place at Los Angeles’ Hotel Bel-Air’s pond. It featured mismatched vintage furniture, straw hats, striped table runners and fishing nets to fit in with the theme.

Yellow flowers and banjo music helped set the vibe, and her 48 guests were served Champagne with fresh blueberries in vintage baby bottles with custom straws. Goodie bags included blue nail polish, lip gloss and condoms — a reminder of Simpson’s surprise over the unplanned pregnancy. And children were treated to a grilled cheese station while guests enjoyed Southern comfort food.

“I always love some fried chicken,” the 32-year-old said.

The singer infamously gained 60 pounds during her first pregnancy with daughter Maxwell Drew, now 11 months old. This time she said she’s working out three times a week with celeb trainer Harley Pasternak.

“This pregnancy I’m active,” she said. “I’ve only gained half of what I gained in my first pregnancy.”

Simpson recently purchased Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s estate in Hidden Hills for $11.5 million. The Cape Cod-inspired mansion, built in 2001, features a paneled study with fireplace, a home theater and studio area, six en suite bedrooms and a guest apartment with kitchenette, according to The Times’ Hot Property blog. The family room of the 11,000-square-foot home has sliding barn doors and a reclaimed brick fireplace, and the grounds include a swimming pool, spa and barbecue island.

Looks as if Maxwell and little Ace are going to have plenty of room to run around with Mommy and Daddy.
