Earthquake: Magnitude 3.3 quake strikes Lake Tahoe area
A shallow, magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning near Lake Tahoe, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:58 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0.6 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 11 miles from Gardnerville Ranchos, Nev., 21 miles from South Lake Tahoe, Calif., 29 miles from Carson City, Nev., 48 miles from Truckee, Calif., and 55 miles from Reno, Nev.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
