One dead, 1 wounded in Mid-City shooting
Los Angeles police are searching for suspects in a shooting in the Mid-City area Sunday that left one person dead and another wounded, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 11:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Redondo Boulevard, just south of Pico Boulevard, police said.
The two unidentified male victims were standing on the sidewalk talking when a white or silver four-door car with four men inside pulled up, said Lt. John Radtke, of the Los Angeles Police Department.
“All we know is a car pulled up and someone started firing from inside the car and two people were struck,” Radtke said.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to a local hospital, where he was undergoing surgery, he said.
Francisco Lopez, owns a tire shop less than a block away, said there were two bursts of gunfire.
“We heard the shootings, blam, blam, blam,” he said. “Then it stopped. And then we heard, blam, blam, blam.”
He said the windshield on his car was hit with a stray bullet.
“Thank God it was only the windshield,” he said.
