Suspect in fatal Hollywood party bus shooting identified
Los Angeles police publicly identified Monday one of two suspects arrested in a party bus shooting that left one man dead and another critically wounded.
Deondie Wilson, 26, of Lynwood and a 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the Friday night shooting in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement. The second suspect’s name was not released because he is a minor.
Detectives planned to present their case to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office on Tuesday, police said.
Gunfire broke out about 11:40 p.m. Friday following a dispute at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and El Centro Avenue, police said. KTLA reported that the argument began as passengers were getting back onto a party bus that had stopped to let them use a restroom.
The suspects fired “several rounds,” police said, striking two male passengers.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital, where Travius Shearer, 23, of Los Angeles, later died, police said. The second victim -- described only as a 19-year-old Los Angeles man -- was critically injured.
Authorities asked anyone who might have witnessed the incident or business owners who might have surveillance footage to contact investigators at (213) 382-9470.
