LAPD officers shoot and wound robbery suspect in skid row area
Los Angeles police officers responding to a reported robbery shot and wounded a robbery suspect on skid row near the Central Area police station Wednesday morning, department officials said.
No officers were injured and there was no immediate word on the condition of the suspect, who was taken to a hospital.
The shooting was reported around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of 5th and Wall streets. It occurred after officers spotted an armed man appearing to walk backwards out of a store. Multiple officers fired their weapons, but a precise number was not available, a law enforcement source said. Also not available was the number of shots fired.
